Peter Kay reveals new charity tour dates after surgery

Beloved British comedian Peter Kay has delighted fans by announcing a series of new tour dates for 2026, with all profits from the additional shows being donated to twelve cancer charities.

Charity Focus for New Shows

The 52-year-old Bolton native made the surprise announcement during an appearance on BBC's The One Show, where he shared the exciting news alongside fellow guests Rebel Wilson and Kiefer Sutherland. Kay revealed that this would be the "last lot of shows" and emphasised the charitable nature of the upcoming performances.

During his emotional appearance, Kay read out the full list of charities that will benefit from the tour profits, stating: "Unfortunately, everybody knows someone who's been affected on that list and I just hope people support it."

The comprehensive list of beneficiary organisations includes:

  • Children with Cancer UK
  • Teenage Cancer Trust
  • Kidney Cancer UK
  • Blood Cancer UK
  • Bowel Cancer UK
  • Prostate Cancer UK
  • DKMS
  • Ovarian Cancer Action
  • Pancreatic Cancer UK
  • Anthony Nolan
  • The Brain Tumour Charity
  • Breast Cancer UK

Ticket Details and Kay's Humorous Appeal

In his characteristic humorous style, Kay made a heartfelt appeal to potential audience members, joking: "Come to the shows. That's why I'm here. You don't even have to like me to come. It goes beyond that. This is about supporting these charities."

The comedian couldn't resist adding his trademark wit, teasing: "If it's not funny, you get your money back... You don't."

With Christmas approaching, Kay also suggested the shows would make ideal gifts, concluding: "I hope you'll come and do it. It's a good Christmas gift and all. Don't forget Christmas."

Tickets for the extra shows will go on sale this Sunday at 10am, with further details available through official channels.

Recent Surgery and Rescheduled Dates

The announcement comes shortly after Kay was forced to reschedule two Nottingham performances due to medical reasons. The comedian underwent a routine kidney stone procedure that required a period of recovery.

An official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) explained: "We regret to inform you that due to a routine kidney stone procedure, Peter will be unable to perform his scheduled shows at Nottingham Motorpoint Arena on Sunday 5th October and Monday 6th October."

The statement continued: "Following medical advice, Peter will be taking a period of time to rest and recover. All tickets remain valid for the new dates. If you are unable to attend, refunds will be available from your point of purchase."

Kay's current Better Late Than Never Tour represents his major comeback to stand-up comedy since his extended hiatus began in 2017, following the cancellation of his previous Have Gags, Will Travel tour. Demonstrating consideration for fans during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, Kay has ensured that ticket prices for his comeback shows remain at 2017 levels.

The new charity dates for 2026 promise to extend Kay's successful return to the stage while supporting vital cancer charities across the United Kingdom.
