British Trump Impersonator Faces Physical Attacks Over Political Views in Thailand
Paul Cross, a 64-year-old professional Donald Trump impersonator from Bristol, has revealed he has been spat at and physically assaulted due to his political views since opening a Trump-themed bar in Thailand. The former postman, who bears an uncanny resemblance to the former US president, opened Trump Tower Thailand on Jomtien Beach near Pattaya in August 2025.
Violent Confrontation with American Tourist
Cross described a particularly disturbing incident in October 2025 when an American tourist spat at him and attempted to punch him while he was wearing a MAGA hat. The comedian, who proudly identifies as pro-Trump, responded with characteristic humor: "I've had my teeth done and Botox. I've spent a lot of money on this face, so it wasn't worth fighting."
The wig-wearing lookalike has faced more than just physical confrontations. He reports receiving regular death threats on social media and has been verbally attacked, including insults about his hometown of Bristol. In January 2026, Cross posted on Facebook that he had been "threatened in a bar" and forced to leave the establishment.
Trump Tower Thailand's Unexpected Success
Cross opened the bar after ending his nine-year marriage, and it has since become a surprising tourist attraction. The establishment hosts "boys nights" (explicitly "no women"), parties, and charity events according to its Facebook group page. Cross has developed a merchandise line featuring t-shirts, coasters, and mugs styled after the entrance to Trump's New York City skyscraper.
In a bold move, Cross wrote to The Trump Organization in November 2025 to inform them about his bar. "They could have closed us down in seconds," he noted, "but I have had no reply, so I assume they are happy about the bar."
Political Inspiration and International Appeal
Cross became fascinated with Trump during his unexpected rise to the presidency. "Nobody gave him a chance, but he keeps proving people wrong," Cross explained. "Even when he leaves politics, he will still be the most famous person in the world."
The impersonator believes Trump represents strong leadership that appeals internationally. "Many Russian tourists ask to be photographed with me," Cross observed. "They like a strong leader." He added his perspective on global politics: "Trump is trying to bring peace around the world and the US is the only country with the power to achieve that."
Broader Political Context
These personal attacks occur against a backdrop of increasing political tension. Trump faces growing calls from Democrats to step down or be removed from office amid escalating conflict with Iran. The former president recently issued a profanity-laden warning on Truth Social, threatening to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities.
Despite the hostility he faces, Cross maintains a philosophical attitude: "Everyone is entitled to their opinion." His experience highlights how political polarization extends far beyond traditional political arenas, affecting even those who merely resemble controversial figures in entertainment and business contexts abroad.
