Fans of Coronation Street have received official confirmation of the dramatic exit storyline for popular character Dee-Dee Bailey, played by actress Channique Sterling-Brown.
A Whirlwind Three Years Comes to an End
The actress revealed on Instagram back in October 2025 that she had filmed her final scenes, signalling her departure from the ITV soap to pursue new projects. In her social media post, Sterling-Brown described her time playing the lawyer as "three whirlwind years" and said her farewell was "bittersweet."
Dee-Dee arrived in Weatherfield as the clever yet occasionally ditsy daughter of Ed Bailey, quickly endearing herself to viewers. Her storyline took a dark and dramatic turn when she became involved with solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill), who was later exposed as a manipulative abuser.
Joel's reign of terror concluded when he was killed by one of his victims, Lauren Bolton. In a further twist, Dee-Dee discovered she was pregnant with Joel's child. After a difficult decision, she chose to have the baby, partly because the child could be a potential bone marrow donor for Lauren's son, Frankie.
Trauma, Motherhood, and a Fresh Start
The birth of her daughter, Laila, was a traumatic event marred by racism from hospital staff, which nearly cost Dee-Dee her life. Initially planning for her brother James to adopt Laila, Dee-Dee realised she couldn't part with her and decided to keep her, with James agreeing to co-parent.
