The wait is over for soap fans as ITV has officially unveiled the complete cast list for the unprecedented television event, 'Corriedale'. The hour-long special will unite the worlds of Coronation Street and Emmerdale in a catastrophic storyline that bosses confirm will see multiple characters perish.
The Final Casualty List is Revealed
Following a series of teasers, the full roster of characters caught in the devastating multi-vehicle pile-up has been confirmed. They join the already-announced participants, bringing the total number of stars involved to a staggering level. From Weatherfield, the newly confirmed victims include Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), James Bailey (Jason Callender), Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey), Carla Connor (Alison King), and Shona Platt (Julia Goulding).
Crossing over from the Dales, the Emmerdale contingent features Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), and Joe Tate (Ned Porteous). They will appear alongside previously announced names like David Platt, Tracy Barlow, Dr. Liam Cavanagh, Aaron Dingle, and Lisa Swain.
Trailer Hints at Carnage and Emotional Turmoil
A newly released trailer offers a harrowing glimpse into the chaos of the crash scene. Viewers see medical professionals Jacob and Asha, alongside Cain Dingle, rushing to aid traumatised casualties including Shona and David Platt. Meanwhile, Kit and Carla are shown trying to calm injured victims at the scene.
The drama intensifies in hospital, where a pregnant Charity Dingle is seen assisting a distressed and also-pregnant Shona. Back at the crash site, desperate searches unfold, with Kevin and Abi Webster looking for their daughter, and Robert Sugden and Joe Tate hunting for Aaron Dingle.
Surprise Returns and Broadcast Details
The published cast list also confirms the much-teased return of John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth). His appearance follows months of cryptic 'wanted' posters appearing on Coronation Street, hinting at his involvement after his departure from Emmerdale.
Corriedale is set to be a true spectacle, airing as a standalone hour-long episode at 8pm on January 5. In a break from recent pattern, it will not have an early release on ITVX. Instead, it will be preceded by regular half-hour episodes of both Emmerdale at 7pm and Coronation Street at 7:30pm, though these will be available on the streaming service earlier in the day.
The scale of the project has generated huge excitement behind the scenes. Iain MacLeod, ITV’s Executive Producer for Continuing Drama, said: "It’s beyond exciting that filming is under way on Corriedale. There is a massive buzz around both the Leeds and Manchester sites and the images coming out of the shoot are utterly spectacular." He added, "As a soap fan myself, I think my head is going to explode when the episode airs next year. It will be mind-blowing, historical and unmissable."
With the full cast now public and the promise of fatalities confirmed, the countdown to this landmark soap crossover event has well and truly begun, promising an unmissable night of drama for British television viewers.
