St Paul's Cathedral Hosts Interfaith Harmony Event for Sai Baba Centenary
The iconic St Paul's Cathedral opened its doors to the Sri Sathya Sai Charitable Trust UK for a special harmony event, marking a significant moment in the centenary celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Titled Harmony - Through Love & Service, this interfaith and intercultural gathering brought together diverse communities to honour universal values of compassion and unity.
A Gathering of Distinguished Guests
Held within one of the world's most revered sacred spaces, the event welcomed over 275 distinguished guests, including faith leaders, community representatives, philanthropists, and public life figures. They united to celebrate Baba's message, which emphasises love, compassion, service, peace, and harmony in daily life, encapsulated by his guiding principle: "Love All. Serve All. Help Ever. Hurt Never."
An Evening of Music, Reflection, and Connection
The programme unfolded in three enriching parts:
- Guests participated in the Cathedral's traditional Evensong, enhanced by the world-renowned St Paul's Choir under the musical direction of Andrew Carwood MBE, Director of Music.
- A contemplative interfaith service, conducted by The Reverend & Preceptor Canon Philip Banks, featured sacred hymns, readings from Sathya Sai Speaks, and insightful talks by key guests honouring themes of unity and love.
- A reception provided space for heartfelt connections, unity across traditions, and discussions on compassion-led community action.
The evening was further enriched by contributions from notable figures, including Satyajit Salian, who lived with Baba, humanitarian leader MohanJi, and philanthropist Jagdish Chanrai.
Centenary Celebrations and Future Initiatives
This harmony event is part of a broader, year-long centenary programme by the Sri Sathya Sai Charitable Trust UK, bringing together more than 3,000 people from various communities across the country through prayer, song, reflection, and community-focused service. It reaffirms a century-long mission to awaken love, peace, and unity in every heart.
A key highlight was the announcement of the Trust's next major initiative: the Parliament of All Religions, London 2026, themed 'Harmony through Nature'. Inspired by Baba's call for unity among all faiths and communities, this initiative aims to celebrate positive local actions and champion designs that promote community cohesion through environmental regeneration. The Trust emphasised that such a gathering in London will serve as a force for goodness and a beacon of hope in a fragmented world.
Holistic Commitment to Society
Through the centenary celebrations and upcoming Parliament, the Trust reaffirms its dedication to promoting educare, healthcare, sociocare, and ecocare programmes, offering a holistic model for compassionate upliftment.
