Castle Farm, a picturesque lavender farm nestled near Shoreham in North Kent, is drawing crowds with its sweeping fields of lavender that bloom early this year. Located less than an hour's drive from central London, or 90 minutes by public transport, the farm offers a perfect escape for picnics, photography, and relaxation.
Early bloom prompts urgent visit recommendation
The farm notes on its website: "This year the fields are very early to bloom, so we recommend you visit as soon as you can before we start harvest in late July." Visitors can enjoy picnics on the grass while soaking in the breathtaking scenery, and browse the award-winning shop offering fresh beef, apples, apple juice, hops, dried flowers, Kentish lavender, honey, gifts, and locally-sourced produce.
Viral sensation draws social media buzz
Friends Olivia and Mariella shared their experience on TikTok, calling it "the cutest day out." They said: "Point of view: You go for a picnic at a lavender farm. Picked our spot. They sell lavender lemonade. So pretty. You can bring your own picnic and there's fruit and cocktails you can purchase on site too." They explained that the BYO picnic must be booked in advance, costing £14 for adults and £7.50 for children for a 2.5-hour slot. They also praised the farm shop's honey as "amazing."
One local resident commented: "It's so fun as a local when people from all around the world come here in early summer and I see them taking pictures of the tractors and cows and stuff!" Another user wrote: "This would heal me," while someone else remarked: "Omg this is unbelievable." One person noted: "This is miles away from me but I think it's worth the trip."
