In the July 20 episode of Emmerdale, Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) was unmasked as the thief who broke into Home Farm and stole a USB stick, according to the show's latest twist. The episode, available on ITVX and YouTube, aired on ITV1 later.
Serena's Return and Confession
Earlier in the episode, Serena returned to Emmerdale Farm after staying at Charity Dingle's (Emma Atkins). Charity had encouraged her to share her side of the story with Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller). Upon arrival, Serena found Ross Barton (Michael Parr) accusing Robert and Aaron of breaking into Home Farm. She defused the situation by pointing out Ross had no evidence.
Serena then explained her connection to John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth). She revealed that John visited her family farm after leaving the army, and when he showed up in December 2025, she didn't suspect anything. However, after her mother saw John on the news as a wanted criminal, they realized his true nature. Robert, recognizing the pattern of John's charm, allowed Serena to stay, and she promised to stop lying.
The USB Stick Theft
Meanwhile, at Home Farm, Ross reported his failure to identify the intruder. Kim Tate (Claire King) realized a USB stick had been stolen. The episode ended with Serena alone on her laptop, browsing files from the USB stick. The contents remain unclear, though earlier storylines involved Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) possessing footage of Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) killing John on a USB stick, which was later deleted by Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley).
According to Emmerdale spoilers, Serena's motives are yet to be revealed, and further twists are expected in upcoming episodes.
