Winchester Science Centre, located approximately 1.5 hours from London, has launched three new outdoor interactive exhibits as part of its Play Wild summer campaign. Designed for children aged 3 to 12, the attractions aim to foster a love of science through movement, nature, and play.
Three new exhibits unveiled
The new attractions include the Dino Dig, The Chalk Stream, and the Dormouse Den. The Dino Dig transforms children into budding palaeontologists, allowing them to explore ancient seas that shaped the local bedrock. Kids can climb a giant model of a mosasaur, an extinct marine reptile, and dig for real ancient fossils in a hands-on sand pit.
The Chalk Stream lets children step into the roles of hydrologists and ecologists, learning about one of the world's rarest natural habitats. They can build dams, divert flowing water, and discover how local wildlife and chalk streams depend on environmental protection.
The Dormouse Den focuses on woodland environments and the legally protected dormouse. It features a natural climbing structure and interactive elements where children encounter a character named Dash the Dormouse and learn how small creatures survive.

The exhibits were showcased on Instagram by @ourhampshiredays, drawing positive reactions from parents. One commented, "Looks so good," while another said, "This is definitely on my summer holiday to do list."
Entry to the Play Wild outdoor exhibits is included with standard admission. Regular general admission for an adult and child aged 3+ costs £22.50 (without Gift Aid). Children under 3 and carers go free. The outdoor exhibits are open during weekends and school holidays, with the centre operating from 9:30am to 5pm.

Tickets also grant access to two floors of indoor interactive exhibits, live science demonstrations, and a planetarium, offering a full day of educational fun for families.
