Shona and David Platt's long-awaited good news about their baby daughter Harper's health is overshadowed by half-sister Jodie Ramsey's manipulative return in upcoming Coronation Street episodes.
Baby Harper's health battle
The Platts have endured a traumatic year. Shona's pregnancy was complicated by a cancerous tumour on the unborn baby's neck. Surgery to remove it risked Shona's life. Despite the dangers, Harper was born prematurely after the Corriedale crash, requiring NICU care and a planned operation to remove the tumour. The infant has needed round-the-clock care ever since.
Jodie's twisted schemes
Jodie Ramsey, Shona's half-sister, has been a persistent threat. She attempted to seduce David by impersonating Shona with her perfume, but failed when he turned on the lights. David threw her out, but she wormed her way back in by helping care for Harper and bonding with niece Lily. Meanwhile, Jodie stole the gun Carl Webster used in his garage standoff with Ronnie Bailey, Tyrone Dobbs and Kevin Webster, hiding it in a box of trinkets stolen from neighbours.
Jodie also attacked Sarah Platt from behind to stop her revealing the incriminating box. Sarah later murdered Theo Silverton, but Jodie's assault is a separate crime.
The all-clear celebration ruined
David and Shona finally receive the all-clear for Harper and return home to surprise the family. However, Jodie arrives and announces she has confessed to the police about assaulting Sarah. She then asks to move back in while awaiting her court case. Lily quizzes Jodie about the trinket box; Jodie claims the gun is fake. Bethany visits Sarah in prison and tells her about Jodie's confession and arrival at the party.
With the gun drama about to unravel, Jodie's control may soon end.
