Battlefield 6 Free Play Week: Full Multiplayer Trial Starts November 25
Battlefield 6 Free Play Week Announced for UK

Electronic Arts is throwing the doors wide open for a massive free-to-play week for its blockbuster military shooter, Battlefield 6. Starting later this month, players across the UK and beyond will have a full week to experience the game's acclaimed multiplayer chaos without spending a penny.

What's Included in the Free Trial?

The free access period is set to begin on Tuesday, November 25, and will run for an entire week, concluding on December 2. This generous trial offers a substantial slice of the Battlefield 6 multiplayer experience, far exceeding the typical free weekend offered by competitors like Call of Duty.

During this time, players will have access to five core multiplayer modes:

  • The large-scale, signature Conquest mode
  • The intense frontline combat of Breakthrough
  • Classic Team Deathmatch
  • The newly added Sabotage mode, an 8v8 battle where teams compete to destroy bomb sites

The main limitation is the map selection, with only three arenas available: Cairo, Blackwell Fields (which debuted at the start of season one), and the brand-new Eastwood map, set in a detailed recreation of Los Angeles.

Building on a Record-Breaking Launch

This free play initiative is a strategic move by EA to maintain the tremendous momentum generated by Battlefield 6's historic launch. The game shattered franchise records by selling an astonishing over seven million copies within its first three days on the market.

While player numbers have naturally declined from their initial peak, the community remains robust. Data from SteamDB shows a concurrent player peak of 223,403 on PC in the last 24 hours, indicating a very healthy and active player base. EA has already supported the title with the free battle royale mode, RedSec, and the ongoing content of its first season.

Arriving With the California Resistance Update

The announcement of the free week coincides with the rollout of the California Resistance update, which marks the second phase of the game's first season. This substantial content drop introduces not only the Eastwood map and Sabotage mode but also brings new Gauntlet missions for the RedSec mode and introduces Battle Pickups—powerful weapons that can be found in caches scattered across the maps.

Looking ahead, the final phase of season one, titled Winter Offensive, is scheduled for a December 9 launch. This update promises to bring a frosty new variant of the Empire State map and a limited-time event featuring a Freeze mechanic where players must manage their temperature.

While direct sales comparisons with the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 are not yet clear, all indicators suggest that EA's flagship shooter has successfully carved out a significant portion of the market, potentially outperforming its rival in its initial launch window.
