The explosion was felt within a radius of 150 to 200 meters, and firefighters confirmed that at least 50 vehicles sustained damage in the blaze.

Local police reported that the truck driver, who was affiliated with the gas company Gasco, lost control of the vehicle and crashed. Santiago's governor, Claudio Orrego, provided a grim update on the injured, noting that at least five people were in serious condition. "One has burns covering 100% of their body with imminent risk to their life," he said.
