Ferry Chaos as Inappropriate Film Shocks Passengers
A major ferry operator has been forced to issue a profound apology after children were left distressed and screaming when a pornographic film was accidentally broadcast on a ship travelling from France to the UK. The incident occurred aboard a DFDS ferry on the Dieppe to Newhaven route at the end of October.
Technical Fault and Unfortunate Broadcast
The unsettling event unfolded during a journey that was already plagued by disruption. The vessel had been forced to turn back to France due to a technical fault at Newhaven port, causing a significant delay. During this period, a group of passengers requested to watch a Formula One grand prix on the lounge television.
According to the company, the adult film was mistakenly broadcast after the race had concluded. A DFDS spokesperson confirmed that the crew was completely unaware the explicit content was scheduled to be shown. The channel was only changed once staff were alerted to the inappropriate material by horrified passengers.
Passenger Outcry and Company Response
One anonymous passenger, who spoke to the Argus newspaper in Brighton, described the scene as "a bit mad." They reported seeing children running out of the recliner lounge area screaming, followed by angry parents demanding that a staff member sort the television out, exclaiming that there was "hardcore porn on the TV." The passenger noted that while they could not see the screen, the audio was clearly audible throughout the lounge.
In its official statement, DFDS expressed that it was "very sorry for the understandable upset and anger" caused by the incident. The company has taken decisive action to prevent a recurrence, confirming that the channel has been removed from the list of available stations on the boat. "This will not happen again," the spokesperson assured the public.
