Tesco Extends Aldi Price Match to Over 2,000 Express Stores
Tesco Aldi Price Match Now in Express Stores

Tesco has announced it is extending its Aldi Price Match scheme to more than 2,000 of its Express convenience stores, making it cheaper for customers to shop at these smaller locations. Previously, the price match was only available in larger Tesco stores and online.

What Is the Aldi Price Match?

Introduced in May 2020, Tesco's Aldi Price Match scheme promises to match the prices of selected items sold at Aldi, which is consistently ranked as the UK's cheapest supermarket. According to Which?, Aldi was the cheapest supermarket for 10 out of 12 months in 2025. Other retailers such as Sainsbury's, Morrisons, and Co-op also operate similar schemes, but Tesco Express shoppers previously missed out.

Which Products Are Included?

More than 200 products will be included in the price match, covering everyday essentials like Tesco Penne Pasta Quills (500g), two-pint bottles of Tesco semi-skimmed milk, and Tesco whole iceberg lettuce. However, eligible items may vary depending on the size and location of each Express store. Customers are advised to check the Tesco website for a full list of participating products.

Why Now?

Tesco's UK CEO, Ashwin Prasad, said the move is a direct response to household budgets being 'under pressure.' He added: 'We are committed to keeping the cost of the weekly food shop affordable for Tesco customers. By extending our Aldi Price Match scheme to Express stores, we can now give customers the confidence that they can get great prices on a range of everyday products at Tesco, whether that’s in our large stores, online or in more than 2,000 of our local convenience stores.'

A 2024 study by Which? found that smaller stores like Morrisons Daily, Sainsbury's Local, and Tesco Express can charge up to twice the price for the same items compared to their larger counterparts. This expansion aims to address that disparity.

Which Supermarket Is Cheapest for Big Brands?

While Aldi and Lidl lead in overall low prices, they stock fewer branded goods. According to a Which? analysis of 241 popular branded items—including Kellogg's, Nescafé, and Mr Kipling—Asda was the most affordable in March 2026. The total cost for all items at Asda was £813.16, compared to £824.62 at Tesco with a Clubcard and £849.08 at Sainsbury's with a Nectar Card. Asda was 1% cheaper than Tesco Clubcard prices and 4% cheaper than Sainsbury's Nectar prices.
