Britain's leading theme parks are preparing to launch a spectacular array of new rides and immersive lands in 2026, promising unforgettable experiences for thrill-seekers and families alike. While the parks are currently in their winter closure, construction is in full swing for these major additions, setting the stage for a blockbuster season.
Major Expansions at Premier Parks
Alton Towers is serving up a double dose of excitement. For younger visitors and fans of the hit show, a brand-new ride inspired by Bluey and the Heeler family will debut in spring 2026 within CBeebies Land. The experience will include character meet-and-greets and specially themed rooms at the CBeebies hotel. For adrenaline lovers, the park will also launch 'The Toxicator' in 2026. This intense attraction will suspend riders 78-feet above a simulated toxic alien acid pool, subjecting them to powerful centrifugal forces.
Meanwhile, Paultons Park is creating an entirely new world. On May 16, 2026, it will open 'Valgard: Realm of the Vikings'. This immersive land will feature 'Drakon', billed as the park's most thrilling coaster to date. The existing Bobsled Coaster will be transformed into 'Raven', and the area will also include the family-friendly 'Vild Swing' and other Viking-themed attractions.
Character Adventures and Record-Breaking Thrills
Chessington World of Adventures is set to delight younger guests with a new PAW Patrol themed area. The land will feature four new rides, including a child-friendly rollercoaster, and opportunities to meet characters like Chase and Skye. The fun extends to overnight stays, with the Chessington Safari Hotel now offering PAW Patrol-themed bedrooms.
Over at Blackpool Pleasure Beach Resort, a new giant is rising. 'Aviktas' is poised to become the UK's tallest gyro swing, standing at a staggering 138ft. While its exact launch date is under wraps, the park is offering a limited number of £50 VIP preview tickets, which include a commemorative certificate for the first riders.
New Concepts and Park Revivals
A unique addition to the UK's leisure landscape is Kynren – The Storied Lands in Bishop Auckland. This is not a traditional coaster park; instead, it expands on the live-action 'Kynren' experience to offer immersive historical adventures, journeying from Viking times to Neolithic Britain.
Finally, Lightwater Valley Family Adventure Park is embarking on a 'new era' under fresh ownership since late 2025. Its first confirmed new attraction for 2026 is the Spinning Racer coaster, with spinning cars for an extra twist. Further new additions are expected to be announced later in the year.
With this wave of innovation, 2026 is shaping up to be a landmark year for UK theme parks, offering enhanced reasons for families and adventure lovers to explore the country's top destinations.
