The London food scene is set for a monumental shift as ramen royalty prepares to take up residence in the capital. This week, the highly anticipated Ivan Ramen opens its doors, marking the first permanent UK outpost for the world-renowned chef Ivan Orkin.
From Pop-Up Success to Permanent Home
Following a sell-out pop-up in 2023 that left Londoners craving more, Ivan Ramen has found a permanent home at 98 Farringdon Road. The official opening date is set for November 19, 2025. The chef himself, a star of Netflix's Chef's Table, is bringing his near-mythic bowls, which have earned a cult following in both Tokyo and New York, directly to British soil.
This significant launch is the result of a partnership with Sessions, the UK's leading platform for top food creators. The Farringdon location is just the beginning, with wider plans to expand Ivan Ramen to more sites across the country.
A Menu of Cult Classics and London Exclusives
Diners can look forward to diving into Ivan Orkin's iconic creations. The menu will feature his rich and creamy Tonkotsu, the silky Tori Paitan, and the fiery Spicy Miso Red Chilli ramen. His beloved Karaage (Japanese fried chicken) will also be available.
However, there's a special treat crafted exclusively for the London audience: the Salt Beef Bun. This unique dish is a direct homage to the capital's culinary heritage, inspired by the flavours of an East End bagel shop. It's stuffed with warm salt beef, pickled cucumber, and a punchy karashi mustard mayo, creating a delicious fusion of New York, Tokyo, and Brick Lane.
An Atmosphere of Precision and Passion
The 26-seat restaurant, designed by Harrison, masterfully blends Japanese minimalism with the energetic vibe of a New York ramen joint. The interior features clean lines and natural textures, contrasted with bold manga artwork and glowing lightboxes.
Eagle-eyed visitors will spot reclaimed furniture and lighting that pays tribute to Ivan's original New York shop, alongside photography documenting his incredible journey from ramen obsessive to global culinary icon. A theatrical open kitchen takes centre stage, allowing diners to witness their bowls being crafted with the precision, passion, and playfulness that made Ivan a household name for food lovers.
Expressing his excitement, Ivan Orkin said, "I’ve always loved London, and I’m beyond thrilled to finally be a part of it. Tokyo, New York… and now London!" Dan Warne, Founder and CEO of Sessions, added, "Bringing Ivan Ramen to the UK is a milestone — and just the beginning."
