Man Utd Learn Asking Price for Ryerson with 15 Assists

Manchester United are monitoring Borussia Dortmund right-back Julian Ryerson, who has been remarkably productive in attack this season. The 28-year-old Norway international has contributed 15 assists in the Bundesliga, second only to Bayern Munich's Michael Olise (19). This represents a significant improvement from the previous campaign, when he managed just three assists in 29 league appearances.

Ryerson's Role and Style

It is worth noting that Ryerson has achieved these numbers while playing as a right wing-back in Nico Kovac's 3-4-2-1 formation at Dortmund, rather than in a flat back four, which is favoured by Manchester United manager Michael Carrick. Nevertheless, Sky Sport Germany reports that the Norwegian has caught the eye at Old Trafford and is on United's list of summer targets.

Dortmund's Stance and Asking Price

Dortmund are reluctant to lose Ryerson, but they will not reject a substantial offer for a player who turns 29 later this year. According to Sky Sport, the German club would demand 'more than €30m (£26m)'. With Ryerson set to represent Norway at the World Cup, that fee could prove to be good value if he performs well in the tournament.

United's Transfer Priorities

Manchester United are planning several signings this summer, but right-back is not at the top of their priority list. The interest in Ryerson is reportedly conditional on the future of Noussair Mazraoui, who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford. The Morocco international joined United from Bayern Munich in 2024 under Erik ten Hag and was a regular last season, making 57 appearances in all competitions. He has played less frequently under Carrick this term, making only 19 appearances, partly due to United's absence from European competition and early domestic cup exits. Mazraoui, 28, is under contract until 2028 and may be content to compete for a place now that United have qualified for the Champions League.
