A man in his 30s died after falling from a height at a construction site in Mayfair, central London, on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred at the junction of Berkeley Street and Stratton Street, W1, at around 1:51 pm on July 9.
Emergency services respond
Officers from the Metropolitan Police and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Investigation and road closures
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been notified of the death, and Berkeley Street and Stratton Street remain cordoned off while investigations continue. The Met Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
In a statement, the Met Police said: "Police were called at around 1.51pm on Thursday, July 9, following reports that a man had fallen from height on a construction site at the junction of Berkeley Street and Stratton Street, W1. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service. Sadly, a man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers. Berkeley Street and Stratton Street have been closed while enquiries continue. The Health and Safety Executive have been informed about the incident."
