Massive Fuel Tanker Erupts in Flames After Texas Crash
An 18-wheel fuel tanker carrying a staggering 9,000 gallons of gasoline crashed into another vehicle, toppled power lines, and burst into a raging inferno outside Fort Worth, Texas, in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to local fire department authorities.
The catastrophic collision triggered an immediate and intense fireball that engulfed the front of the truck, sending plumes of thick, black smoke billowing into the sky. Videos captured at the scene show flames consuming the vehicle as emergency responders rushed to the location.

The tanker driver, whose identity has not been released, was hospitalized with severe burns and remains in critical condition, stated Craig Trojacek, a spokesperson for the Fort Worth Fire Department. Trojacek revealed that the driver attempted valiantly to prevent the gasoline from draining into the parking lot of a nearby Valero gas station before the fuel ignited.
"The driver of the 18-wheeler was trying to do everything he could to keep the gas from draining into the parking lot of the Valero gas station when it lit off," Trojacek explained, highlighting the perilous moments leading up to the explosion.

Firefighters engaged in an extensive six-hour operation to extinguish the blaze and contain the hazardous fuel runoff. Crews utilized high-pressure water streams to douse the flames while constructing emergency sand dams to prevent the gasoline from spreading further into the surrounding area.
According to CBS News reports, the complex firefighting strategy involved continuous spraying of the tanker with water and the strategic placement of sand barriers. Firefighters finally managed to bring the situation under control and left the scene around 7 a.m., after ensuring the area was safe.

Bailey Moss, a witness who was staying with a friend nearby, described hearing "a loud crash" before looking outside to see the terrifying spectacle. "The fire spread quickly, and you could feel the heat even from a distance. It was pretty intense," Moss recounted, emphasizing the rapid escalation and overwhelming thermal radiation from the burning gasoline.
The incident occurred against a backdrop of rising gasoline prices, influenced by global oil supply constraints following geopolitical tensions, including the US-Israeli conflict with Iran and the subsequent closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has bottlenecked international oil shipments.
