Hume Highway truck crash: butane, alcohol fuel massive fire

At least six trucks were destroyed in a massive fire after a collision on the Hume Highway near Breadalbane, New South Wales, early Tuesday morning. Police confirmed that the drivers escaped without serious injuries, despite multiple explosions and intense flames.

Collision at rest stop triggers chain reaction

The incident occurred just after 5am when two trucks collided while entering a roadside rest stop. One of these vehicles then crashed into four other rigs parked nearby, igniting a chain reaction. Fire crews arriving at the scene were met with multiple small explosions from a truck carrying eight tonnes of butane cans.

Other trucks involved in the blaze were carrying alcohol, resin, and memory foam, all of which fueled the subsequent fire. The combination of these materials created a large, fast-spreading fire that destroyed all six vehicles.
