The iconic Goodyear Blimp was spotted over South London on the morning of July 1, surprising residents who expected the airship to appear on July 8 for its 100th anniversary celebration.
Early Arrival Over South London
The commercial airship took off from Calais earlier in the day and was seen passing over Dover, Kent, and then parts of South London. Eyewitnesses reported the blimp flying low over the capital, drawing attention from onlookers.
Planned Route for Anniversary
Organizers had originally scheduled the blimp to fly past The Shard, Tower Bridge, and St Paul's Cathedral on July 8 to mark its 100th anniversary. The early appearance was unexpected but welcomed by aviation enthusiasts and the public.
Global Recognition
The Goodyear Blimp is recognized worldwide and is a regular feature at major events, including motorsport events, FA Cup Finals, and Coachella. Its presence in London adds to its storied history.
