Emergency Landing Experience on Thai Airways Flight Revealed

Passenger Recounts Thai Airways Emergency Landing Experience

A passenger has provided a detailed account of what transpires when an aircraft must execute an emergency landing, following his flight being met by emergency crews upon arrival. Mosey, who was traveling with his partner Jess, boarded a Thai Airways service from Heathrow Airport to Bangkok on Thursday, March 5.

Flight Diverts Due to Engine Fault

After approximately two hours in the air, the captain announced via tannoy that the flight would need to divert to the nearest airport for an emergency landing. The decision was prompted by a technical issue with one of the engines. Initially, the pilot indicated they would land in Munich within about 45 minutes, but half an hour later, another announcement stated they could not land there and would instead proceed to Paris, with an estimated landing time of an hour and a half.

Mosey explained, "So an hour and a half later, we landed in Paris and then they could start investigating the fault." He posted footage from the aircraft after touchdown, showing multiple emergency response vehicles on the tarmac with lights flashing.

Extended Wait and Hotel Accommodation

Following the landing, passengers remained on the plane for about four to five hours. Mosey described the situation as "getting very late, a lot of tired people." Eventually, the airline informed them they would be placed in hotels, indicating they would not be taking off again immediately.

The process to disembark and reach accommodation was lengthy. It took approximately two hours to exit the airport due to high traffic, followed by another two hours to check into the hotel, with queues forming at reception as many passengers attempted to check in simultaneously.

Mosey noted, "Luckily, Thai Airways have treated us very well. We've been fed, we've had refreshments, obviously we've got accommodation and we've got transport to and from the airport and we are going to be getting onto another flight, we just don't know when."

Viewer Responses and Similar Incidents

In response to the video Mosey shared, viewers recounted their own experiences with emergency landings. One person revealed their parents were on the same flight, expressing hope for a swift resolution. Another shared a story of a flight from Heathrow where an engine failure over Bristol led to a return to Heathrow, resulting in an eight-hour wait on the runway with minimal provisions from the airline.

A third viewer wished Mosey better luck for the remainder of his trip. Thai Airways was contacted for a statement regarding the incident.
