BA New Route: London Stansted to Olbia Sardinia

British Airways is set to enhance its summer travel offerings with the launch of a brand-new direct route from London to a stunning Italian beach destination. The airline has confirmed that it will begin operating flights from London Stansted Airport to Olbia in Sardinia, providing holidaymakers with another convenient gateway to this picturesque Mediterranean island.

A Scenic Sardinian Escape

Olbia, located in the northeast of Sardinia, is renowned for its idyllic coastal scenery, featuring pristine white sand beaches and the crystal-clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. This historic city serves as a primary entry point to the island, offering easy access to numerous luxury resorts and the famous Costa Smeralda, which is approximately a thirty-minute drive away. The destination is particularly popular among travellers seeking a blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and upscale amenities.

Flight Details and Scheduling

The new service will commence on May 23, 2026, perfectly timed for the spring half-term break, and will continue through the summer season until September 27. Flights are scheduled to operate twice weekly, specifically on Saturdays and Sundays, with a flight duration of around two and a half hours. British Airways has announced that one-way fares will start from an attractive £127, making this Sardinian getaway more accessible to a wider range of passengers.

Expanding Connectivity Options

This Stansted route represents the latest addition to British Airways' existing network of flights from London to Olbia. The UK's flag carrier already provides services to this Sardinian city from both London City Airport and London Heathrow Airport. In a complementary move, the frequency of flights from London City to Olbia will be increased to up to five times per week during the peak summer months, further bolstering connectivity and choice for travellers.

The introduction of this route underscores British Airways' commitment to expanding its European portfolio and catering to the growing demand for leisure travel to premium beach destinations. It also highlights Stansted Airport's evolving role as a key hub for both budget and full-service carriers operating seasonal routes to popular holiday spots.
