British Airways Announces Revised Flight Schedule Amid Middle East Tensions

British Airways has revealed plans to resume flights to select Middle Eastern destinations while implementing a reduced schedule for the region starting in July. The airline will concurrently enhance its services to India and Kenya, reflecting a strategic shift in its operations.

Middle East Route Adjustments and Resumptions

Due to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, British Airways has suspended services to the Middle East. The carrier intends to restart flights to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, in mid-May. Additionally, services to Dubai, Doha, and Tel Aviv are scheduled to resume on 1 July.

However, the frequency of these flights will be significantly reduced. Daily flights to Dubai will decrease from three to one, while services to Doha, Tel Aviv, and Riyadh will be cut from two to one per day. British Airways will permanently discontinue flights to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia from 24 April. Flights to Bahrain and Amman remain paused until 25 October, and services to Larnaca in Cyprus are set to resume on 22 May.

A spokesperson for British Airways stated, "Due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East, we have made further changes to our flying schedule to provide greater clarity for our customers. We're keeping the situation under constant review and are directly in touch with affected customers to offer them a range of options." The airline has assisted thousands of customers in returning home since the conflict began, operated relief flights, and added capacity on key long-haul routes.

Expansion of Services to India and Kenya

In a parallel move, British Airways is bolstering its operations to India and Kenya. From 1 June, the airline will deploy larger aircraft on its Delhi route and extend this to its Hyderabad service. Additional daily flights will be introduced to Bengaluru in India and Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, throughout the summer until late October.

Furthermore, British Airways is increasing flights to Delhi and Mumbai over the summer months. These routing decisions were initially reported by the Financial Times, highlighting the airline's focus on expanding its presence in these key markets.

The carrier emphasized its commitment to adaptability, noting, "We will continue to assess and introduce further flying where possible." This approach underscores British Airways' efforts to navigate geopolitical challenges while optimizing its network to meet passenger demand and operational efficiency.
