Who will design Taylor Swift's wedding dress? Nine contenders for the bridal commission of the century
Who will design Taylor Swift's wedding dress? Nine contenders

Ever since Taylor Swift announced her engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce via an Instagram post last August, fans have been gripped by a near year-long frenzy of sleuthing and speculation over the wedding plans. This week the couple will finally be tying the knot. With guests reportedly signing NDAs and dates flying around Reddit, the facts are scant – but it has been reported that the couple have rented out Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden, an arena which can hold more than 19,000 people, for celebrations on July 2 and 3.

The Fashion Insider Favourite

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “well-placed sources” say her bridal look will be custom couture by Jonathan Anderson, who became Dior’s sole creative director last June and has since re-energised the house. In April, Swift was spotted toting a bright yellow Mini Lady Dior bag from Anderson’s spring 2026 debut, prompting speculation about her trademark Easter eggs. Anderson recently designed his first Dior bridal look for Chinese model Ming Xi’s nuptials in June, featuring an elegant charmeuse silk gown that could hint at Swift’s dress.

The All-American Dress

With rumoured celebrations coinciding with the US’s 250th anniversary, opting for an all-American label like Ralph Lauren would be fitting. The brand’s identity was built on an idealised vision of the American dream, which some have likened to the couple’s public image. Both wore Ralph Lauren in their engagement photoshoot – Kelce in a signature polo shirt and Swift in a $398 striped sundress that sold out instantly.

The Swifties Choice

Oscar de la Renta can be credited with some of Swift’s biggest fashion moments, dating back to the 2014 Met Gala. Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, the brand’s then creative directors, created looks for her 2021 Grammy win and the 2023 Eras Tour premiere. Swift also wore a yellow sequined Oscar de la Renta dress to perform at the Toy Story 5 premiere. Given her repeated choices for milestones, familiarity could win on her most closely watched day.

The Familiar Faces

After leaving Oscar de la Renta, Kim and Garcia now focus on their independent label Monse. Page Six reports that a custom Monse design is among the “top contenders” for Swift’s several looks. She wore a custom Monse minidress to the 2024 VMAs and an asymmetrical black and silver dress to Kelce’s “Tight End University” event, where she performed Love Story – a wedding favourite.

The Afterparty Pick

Stella McCartney, name-checked in Swift’s song London Boy, is rumoured to have created one of Swift’s many outfit changes. The pair previously collaborated on a merchandise line inspired by Lover in 2019. Stella’s father, Paul McCartney, is also rumoured to perform during the wedding celebrations.

The Corseted Couture

Swift has become a devotee of Vivienne Westwood, favouring its signature plaid corseted designs. The label ranks highly for her main wedding dress and is on trend, having designed bridal looks for Charli xcx, Miley Cyrus, and Demi Lovato. Westwood also created custom looks for the European leg of the Eras tour, including a white taffeta corseted dress that looked bridal.

The Royal Connection

When Swift wore a black Givenchy slit gown to the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony last month, she was described as channelling “a bridal bouquet”. Givenchy’s creative director, Sarah Burton, designed Catherine, Princess of Wales’s 2011 bridal look at Alexander McQueen, adding weight to speculation given the “American royal wedding” moniker.

The LV Streak

Louis Vuitton may be on the cards for one of Swift’s looks, especially after her bold 2016 Met Gala appearance in a metallic minidress. If she seeks cutting-edge style, she might continue her “Louis Vuitton streak”.

The Floor-Length Fantasy

Elie Saab, a designer Swift wore early in her career, could be in the mix for a floor-length fairytale gown. She wore a dramatic floral gown during the Eras tour in 2023.

And Don’t Forget About Travis

Kelce’s flamboyant style, including Gucci and Louis Vuitton ensembles, may give way to a traditional tuxedo for the black-tie event. The frontrunner to dress him is Mike Amiri, a favourite among athletes who has created custom sets for Kelce’s Super Bowl tunnel walks in 2024 and 2025.
