Spotify users have experienced widespread disruption with the music streaming platform, leaving thousands unable to access the service.
Outage Reports Surge
Data from outage monitoring website Downdetector shows complaints began flooding in on Friday afternoon as users encountered difficulties with the popular audio streaming application.
Numerous users reported being locked out of the app entirely, while others highlighted problems with music playback and streaming functionality. Several customers also stated they were prevented from logging into their accounts.
Spotify Acknowledges Issues
Spotify confirmed the technical difficulties via social media, stating it was conscious of the issues impacting certain users and was examining the root cause. The streaming behemoth has yet to reveal what lies behind the outage or disclose the number of affected customers.
Spotify ranks amongst the globe's most utilised audio streaming platforms, with millions of users depending on the service each day to enjoy music, podcasts and audiobooks. The scale of the disruption remains uncertain, and no timeframe has been provided for when complete service will resume.
Premium Users Demand Refunds
Irate Spotify customers paying for premium subscriptions have insisted they receive refunds as services continue to be interrupted due to the outage.
"How about you return some money to customers for app not working correctly. What am I paying premium for?" one complained on X. Another remarked: "Always the same! Is this what we're paying premium for?"
Spotify Premium in the UK begins at £5.99 monthly for students and £12.99 monthly for adults.
