Indie game Meccha Chameleon, developed by lemorion_1224, has sold 15 million copies and debuted as the second best-selling game in the US for June by dollar sales, according to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella. It was only outsold by EA Sports UFC 6 at number one. Since US charts are revenue-based, Meccha Chameleon likely led in unit sales given its price of £5.29 compared to UFC 6's £69.99.

Meccha Chameleon also outperformed fellow new entry Star Fox, which launched on June 25 and debuted at number four. Star Fox's first-week sales were included in the June data through July 4.
Hardware sales: Switch 2 leads, Xbox sees surge
The Nintendo Switch 2 was the best-selling console in both unit and dollar sales, though its sales dropped 79% year-on-year, reflecting its June 2025 launch. Overall hardware spending fell 62% to $383 million. PlayStation 5 spending declined 19% year-on-year.
Xbox Series X/S hardware spending jumped 86% compared to June 2025. Piscatella noted that June 2026 was the highest-selling month for Xbox consoles in units for the year, but added that sales in June 2025 were notably low due to a May price increase and the Switch 2 launch. The jump is likely an adjustment from a weak prior year.
Year-to-date trends and player retention
The Nintendo Switch 2 remains the best-selling console of 2026 in the US, ahead of the PlayStation 5, though a price hike in September could affect its momentum. Meanwhile, Meccha Chameleon's concurrent player count on Steam has dropped from over 340,000 at launch to an average of 50,000, suggesting its popularity may be fading.
