Borough Market's iconic restaurant Roast, renowned for its Sunday roasts, will open a second site in east London this October. The new venue, named Roast Shoreditch, will be located at Virgin Hotels London on Curtain Road and will feature 135 seats, offering all-day dining from breakfast to dinner, including its famous Sunday dinners.
New Venue Details and Offerings
The Shoreditch outpost will serve classic Roast dishes alongside new creations exclusive to the location. The menu will include breakfast, brunches, lunches, afternoon tea, and dinners, with a curated wine list and crafted cocktails. The design will pay homage to Shoreditch's horticultural history and its connection to Columbia Road Flower Market, featuring a Victorian-inspired urban conservatory with decorative ironwork, botanical details, timber, marble, brass, and antique mirrors.
A Harlequin emblem nods to Curtain Road's namesake, The Curtain, an Elizabethan playhouse where Shakespeare performed and premiered plays such as Henry V. The venue aims to create an east London vibe that reflects the neighborhood's rich history of markets and creativity.
Background and Expansion
Roast originally opened above the Floral Hall at Borough Market in 2005, becoming known for its British seasonal dishes sourced from UK farmers, growers, and artisan suppliers. The restaurant's Sunday roasts, which have gained fame, will now be available in east London at the Shoreditch hotel.
