Emmerdale is launching a new digital spin-off series titled 'Dingle Court' on its official YouTube channel, with the first episode premiering this Sunday, July 19. The series brings the iconic Dingle family's age-old tradition to a digital format, featuring cast members out of character engaging in debates on various topics.
First Episode Features Belle and Cain Dingle
The inaugural pairing will be Eden Taylor-Draper and Jeff Hordley, who play Belle and Cain Dingle respectively. In a trailer for the series, Jeff Hordley teases: 'Somebody would normally get banished from the family in this situation. We're going to introduce topics to one another and we're going to agree or disagree.' The trailer hints at discussions including going to the same holiday destination, satin pyjamas, and toilet roll holders.
What is Dingle Court?
In the soap, Dingle Court is a family tradition used to deal with members who break the Dingle code, which includes rules such as not stealing from or betraying family, sticking together, and avoiding police involvement. The late patriarch Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell) typically presided as judge; since his passing, Cain has taken over. The accused is summoned to Wishing Well Cottage, where family members air grievances and vote. If found guilty, the punishment is excommunication—being disowned and treated as a ghost. Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) has faced the court multiple times for her scheming.
Future Episodes and Availability
Emmerdale has promised that the series will not be limited to Dingle family members; other villagers may appear in future episodes. Weekly instalments will be released on Emmerdale's YouTube channel, with topics ranging from everyday occurrences to the bizarre. The remaining pairings have yet to be announced.
