Despite Call of Duty abandoning last-generation consoles, EA Sports FC 27 will still launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to a new leak from Dealabs' billbil-kun, who has a flawless track record with retail leaks. The game is scheduled for release on September 25, 2026, continuing the franchise's tradition of late September launches.
Platforms and Editions
The game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, as well as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC. EA's commitment to a Switch 1 version is particularly surprising given the launch of Switch 2 last year, which offered feature parity with other versions. A premium edition will grant early access starting September 17, with the standard edition priced at £69.99, the same as last year.
Market Context
EA's decision to support older consoles reflects the high cost of current-gen hardware. The PlayStation 5 now costs £519.99, up from its original £449.99 launch price. The Xbox Series X is set to rise by approximately £100 on August 1, reaching around £549.99 for the digital model and £599.99 for the physical one. The Switch 2 may also see a price increase of about £35 to £429.99, though UK prices are not yet confirmed. Dealabs also noted that physical copies will include a disc, in contrast to Sony's plan to phase out physical game support after 2027.
