Aldi is set to release a portable air cooler priced at £14.99, offering an affordable alternative to traditional air conditioning during the current heatwave. The device, part of Aldi's Specialbuy range, uses water and ice evaporation technology to lower room temperature and features three speed levels with a touch control panel. It comes in grey, blue, or light blue and has a removable water tank for easy refilling.
Affordable cooling solution
Portable air conditioning units typically cost between £100 and £400, with installation adding up to £1,100 for a single unit. Aldi's air cooler provides a budget-friendly option at a fraction of the price. The product will be available in stores from Thursday, July 2, when the Met Office forecasts highs of 26°C in London. As a Specialbuy, availability is limited, and shoppers are advised to purchase quickly due to high demand.
Full Mini Cooling range
Aldi is also launching other cooling products as part of the same range, including a globe fan with multi-directional oscillation for £39.99, a summer breeze king duvet for £9.99, a coverless duvet for £12.99, a summer dreams double duvet for £9.99, a pair of summer dreams pillows for £7.99, and a fan with a flexible tripod for £6.99.
Alternative cooling tips
For those seeking other options, Shark's ChillPill 3-in-1 Personal High-Speed Fan, typically £149.99, is available on Amazon Prime Day for £119.99. It features a high-speed fan, evaporative mist, and a cooling plate. Cheap alternatives include placing a bottle of ice with salt in front of a fan, using a bowl of water, or hanging a wet towel over a fan. Closing curtains and blinds, especially blackout varieties, helps keep rooms cool, while open windows can let in hot air.
