Aldi and Lidl Greek yoghurts top Which? taste test

Aldi's Brooklea Greek-style yoghurt, priced at just 95p for a 500g tub, and Lidl's Milbona Greek-style Natural Yoghurt, at £1.49 for 1kg, have been crowned joint winners in a blind taste test conducted by consumer champion Which?. The budget supermarket options scored 77%, outperforming more expensive brands such as Yeo Valley and M&S.

Blind taste test results

The test, carried out in June 2026 with a panel of 64 regular yoghurt buyers, rated products on flavour, appearance, aroma, and texture. Aldi's Brooklea was deemed a 'best buy', with 80% of participants praising its 'perfect thickness and creaminess'. Lidl's Milbona was called a 'fantastic value pick', with three-quarters of tasters satisfied with its creaminess.

Yeo Valley's Organic Greek-style Natural Yoghurt (£2.25 for 450g) came in third with 76%, praised for its 'well-balanced flavour' and 'lovely creamy texture', but costing more than twice as much as own-brand options. Sainsbury's Greek-style Natural Yoghurt (£1.15 for 500g) scored 74%, followed by Ocado's version (£1.15 for 500g) at 73%.

Bottom of the rankings

At the lower end, M&S Greek-style Natural Yoghurt, Co-op Greek-style Natural Yoghurt (£1.45 for 500g), and Tesco Greek-style Yoghurt (£1.15 for 500g) tied at 71%. Testers found Co-op's 'too sharp' and lacking creaminess, M&S 'not impressive' with no tang, and Tesco 'not thick or creamy enough'. Asda, Morrisons, Tim's Dairy, and Waitrose all scored 72%.

Testing methodology

All yoghurts were blind-tasted in random order in private booths to avoid bias. The overall score was weighted: 50% flavour, 20% appearance, 15% aroma, and 15% texture. Prices were correct as of July 2026.
