Europe's biggest immersive art experience is set to open in London later this year. Absurd City, created by the team behind Boomtown Fair and Wake the Tiger, will launch on October 15, 2026, at Westfield London in Shepherd's Bush. Tickets went on sale on July 21, 2026.
What Is Absurd City?
Absurd City occupies the 80,000 sq ft space previously home to KidZania at Westfield London. The attraction invites visitors, called 'daytrippers', to explore a cityscape operating under different rules from reality. While many details remain under wraps, the creators have revealed four distinct districts featuring secret passageways, hands-on installations, and storytelling. The experience is designed for all ages and abilities.
Background and Success of Wake the Tiger
The London opening follows the success of Wake the Tiger's Bristol attraction, Dream Factory, which has welcomed over half a million visitors from more than 70 countries since opening in 2022. Luke Mitchell, chief creative officer and co-founder, described Absurd City as having 'no blueprint', calling it a 'beautifully chaotic process driven by some of the UK's finest underground artists, robotic experts and makers'. He added: 'We've built a cosmic, eccentric and deeply human playground that we can't wait for London to explore.'
Free Preview Installation
To mark the ticket launch, a double-decker bus inspired by Absurd City will be stationed at Westfield Square, the outdoor area near Wood Lane station, from Wednesday July 22 to Tuesday July 28. This free public installation offers Londoners a first chance to step inside the attraction before its official opening.
