Transport for London has confirmed that eight lines will experience planned closures and disruption over the final weekend of September. The most significant interruption is on the Piccadilly line, where services will be halted from Cockfosters to Uxbridge on both Saturday and Sunday, September 26-27.
Piccadilly line upgrades ahead of new trains
The Piccadilly line closure is necessary so crews can carry out further upgrades and maintenance in preparation for the arrival of new trains between December this year and June 2027. Services will still operate between Acton Town and Heathrow Airport during the closure period.
Passengers planning to attend the K-pop boyband BigBang concert at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday are advised to use the Victoria line from Seven Sisters or Tottenham Hale, or use Greater Anglia services to and from Northumberland Park station.
Overground and other line disruptions
On the London Overground, passengers will be unable to travel between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town or Cheshunt due to Network Rail maintenance work. The Weaver line will also see no service between Liverpool Street and Chingford until 10.15am on Sunday.
The Lioness line will have no service between Euston and Kilburn High Road until midday and after 8.30pm on Sunday. The Mildmay line will see no service between Camden Road and Stratford after 10.15pm on Sunday. The Windrush line will have no service between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction until 9am on Sunday, with services calling at Battersea Park instead. Passengers are advised to use local bus routes or Southern Railway trains between Battersea Park and Clapham Junction.
DLR, Elizabeth line, and Central line changes
In east London, the DLR will not operate between Tower Gateway and Shadwell on Sunday due to third party works. The Elizabeth line will start later than usual from Hillingdon and towards Maidenhead, with no service between West Drayton and Maidenhead until 9am on Sunday.
The Central line will have no service between Marble Arch and Loughton/Hainault via Newbury Park during Friday Night Tube on September 25-26, and no service between Liverpool Street and Woodford/Newbury Park on Saturday September 26-27, including during Saturday Night Tube, due to track work.
