Londoners and visitors planning weekend activities face significant travel disruptions across multiple transport networks from November 21-23. While the situation represents an improvement over last weekend's complete Heathrow service suspension, several major lines will experience partial or complete closures.
Major Line Closures and Service Changes
Elizabeth line services will be severely affected on Sunday November 23. No trains will run between Whitechapel and Shenfield throughout the day, with Brentwood, Harold Wood, Gidea Park, Romford, and Stratford among the stations closed. Additionally, early morning services between Paddington and Ealing Broadway won't operate until 7:40am. Passengers should note that Greater Anglia services from Liverpool Street to Shenfield, Ingatestone, Southend Victoria and Southminster are also cancelled.
DLR and Overground Network Impact
DLR disruptions begin on Saturday November 22 with no service between Poplar/Stratford International and Beckton/Woolwich Arsenal. On both Saturday and Sunday, the section between Tower Gateway and Shadwell closes completely. Multiple DLR stations including Abbey Wood, Canning Town, Custom House, London City Airport, and Woolwich Arsenal will be inaccessible. Travelers should be aware that Cutty Sark station remains closed until spring 2026.
The Mildmay line (Overground) faces substantial changes throughout the weekend. On both Saturday and Sunday, no trains will run between Gospel Oak and Richmond/Shepherd's Bush. A special service will operate between Stratford and Willesden Junction instead, calling at all stops to Camden Road then Kilburn High Road, Queens Park and Kensal Green. Closed stations include Acton Central, Gunnersbury, Kew Gardens, and Richmond.
Additional Service Alterations
Further disruptions affect other lines. The Liberty line (Overground) experiences a complete closure on Sunday November 23. On the Suffragette line, the 6:18am service from Barking Riverside will instead start from Barking at 6:24am on Friday November 21. Football fans heading to Holloway should note that Piccadilly line's Holloway station will close eastbound from 3:30pm-4:30pm and again from 6:10pm-7:40pm on Sunday. The Waterloo & City line, as usual, remains closed at weekends.
Transport for London advises passengers to check their journey before traveling and allow extra time for their trips across the capital this weekend.
