The incident occurred on the M25 at the A2 turn in Darenth at approximately 2.40pm on October 24, just a short distance from the exit for Bluewater Shopping Centre. The collision has resulted in severe congestion, with vehicles reportedly moving only slowly through the affected stretch of motorway.

Reporter describes traffic as 'awful'
Olivia Carter, a reporter at the scene, described the traffic conditions as “awful”. Despite the slow progress, traffic is reportedly still moving, albeit at a very slow pace, as motorists attempt to reach Bluewater Shopping Centre or continue their journeys along the M25.
The congestion has caused knock-on delays for local roads and the surrounding area, with drivers advised to expect longer journey times. The exact cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed, but emergency services have not been reported at the scene in the images provided.
Impact on shoppers and commuters
The timing of the incident, during the early afternoon, has compounded the disruption as many visitors were heading to Bluewater Shopping Centre for the afternoon. The shopping centre, one of the largest in the UK, attracts thousands of visitors daily, and the traffic build-up is likely to affect access to its car parks and surrounding routes.
Local authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident, but motorists are urged to exercise caution and consider alternative routes where possible. The situation remains fluid, with traffic expected to continue at a reduced pace until the scene is cleared.
