Tragic Morning Collision Claims Life
A man has died following a serious road traffic collision on Old Kent Road in Bermondsey during Friday morning's rush hour.
Emergency services rushed to the scene near Dun Cow Surgery at 6:55am on November 21 after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a car.
Despite the efforts of paramedics and London's Air Ambulance trauma team, the 32-year-old man sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the location.
Driver in Custody as Investigation Begins
Metropolitan Police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle involved has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The individual, whose age and gender haven't been disclosed, remains in police custody while enquiries continue.
Specialist officers are now supporting the victim's family, who have been informed of the tragic incident.

A substantial police cordon remains active, stretching from New Kent Road to Humphrey Street, with forensic teams conducting investigations at the junction with Dunton Road.
Transport for London has diverted nine bus routes, while drivers face lengthy queues on alternative routes including:

- Elephant and Castle
- Peckham Park Road
- Albany Road
- Routes passing Burgess Park
One local resident described the sound of the impact as resembling "an explosion", highlighting the force of the collision.
