Armed police descended on Heathrow Airport this morning following a serious assault in which several individuals were attacked with a substance believed to be pepper spray. The incident triggered a significant security response and caused localised disruption.
Scene of the Assault in Multi-Storey Car Park
The Metropolitan Police were called at 9:11am on Saturday, 7 December 2025 to reports of an assault in the multi-storey car park serving Terminal 3. According to a police spokesman, a group of men sprayed a number of people with what is thought to be a form of pepper spray before fleeing the scene.
Armed response officers attended swiftly and managed to apprehend one man on suspicion of assault. The suspect remains in police custody as enquiries continue to locate the other individuals involved.
Emergency Response and Ongoing Investigation
The London Ambulance Service also attended the location. The victims were transported to hospital for treatment, but their injuries are not considered life-threatening or life-changing.
Commander Peter Stevens sought to reassure the public, stating: “At this stage, we believe the incident involved a group of people known to each other, with an argument escalating and resulting in a number of people being injured.” He confirmed that the incident is not being treated as terrorism.
Airport Operations and Increased Police Presence
Despite the alarming event, Terminal 3 at Heathrow remained open throughout. However, authorities acknowledged some disruption to traffic in the immediate area surrounding the terminal.
Commander Stevens added that there would be an increased police presence at Heathrow Airport throughout the morning to continue investigations and ensure public safety. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them on 101, quoting reference CAD 1803 7 DEC.
