E1 Series 2026 calendar adds Bahamas, mystery race

E1 Series Expands Global Reach with 2026 Championship Calendar

The E1 Series, widely dubbed the 'Formula 1 of the water', has officially unveiled its global race calendar for the 2026 season, marking a significant expansion for the electric powerboat championship. The upcoming season will see the high-octane competition head to the Caribbean for the very first time, with a new race weekend confirmed for the Bahamas.

Global Destinations and a London Question Mark

The third season of the Public Investment Fund-backed series kicks off in January 2026 with a confirmed eight-round schedule. Races will take place in iconic locations around the world, including Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in January, Lake Como, Italy in April, and Dubrovnik, Croatia in June. The championship will also return to glamorous Monaco in July before heading to Lagos, Nigeria and Miami, USA in the latter part of the year.

Intriguingly, the calendar holds one key mystery. An empty slot for a race weekend in early September remains, with its location designated as 'TBC'. While E1 had been actively exploring the possibility of a race on London's River Thames, it is currently unknown if the 2026 season will feature a British round. Furthermore, the planned three-year hosting deal with Hong Kong for the season finale has not transpired.

Star Power and Sustainable Vision

The E1 Series continues to draw significant attention through its roster of celebrity and sports star team owners. The championship boasts involvement from Will Smith, Tom Brady, Rafael Nadal, LeBron James, and Steve Aoki, who all own and back competing teams.

Alejandro Agag, Founder and Chairman of E1, commented on the new calendar, stating: "The 2026 E1 calendar marks an exciting new chapter for us. We're rapidly establishing an exciting, truly global Championship that combines cutting-edge electric innovation with iconic coastal cities and new markets."

Echoing the championship's core mission, Chief Executive Rodi Basso added: "Our vision for E1 has always been to inspire change through competition. This calendar showcases that ambition – reaching more countries, engaging more fans, and continuing to demonstrate that electric marine mobility is the future."

Reigning Champions Look to Defend Title

The 2026 season will see teams battle to dethrone the reigning champions, Team Brady. The team, owned by NFL legend Tom Brady, secured its second successive championship at the 2025 season finale in Miami, fending off strong competition from Team Rafa, Team Blue Rising, and Aoki Racing.

Reflecting on the back-to-back victories, Brady said: "Sport is about strength, resilience, and consistency — the same mindset that drives us every single day on the water. Two championships don't just happen. They're earned through relentless effort, total commitment, and belief in each other."
