Wright: Arsenal Can Be Best Team Ever with Double

Ian Wright believes Mikel Arteta's Arsenal would be regarded as the greatest team in the club's history if they secure a Premier League and Champions League double this season.

Dramatic Win Over West Ham

The Gunners took a significant step toward their first league title since 2004 with a tense 1-0 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday. Leandro Trossard broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute, just moments after David Raya made a superb close-range save to deny Matheus Cunha. West Ham thought they had equalized deep into injury time when Callum Wilson scored from a corner, but the goal was ruled out after a lengthy VAR check for impeding Raya.

The win leaves Arsenal five points clear of Manchester City with two matches remaining, although Pep Guardiola's side has a game in hand.

Double Ambition

Arsenal are closing in on their first Premier League title in 22 years and will then face defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, aiming for their first ever European Cup. Wright, speaking on Sky Sports, argued that achieving both would surpass the achievements of Arsene Wenger's Invincibles.

"I would put them above the Invincibles simply because this team has the capability of being invincible in the Champions League and winning the Premier League as well," Wright said. "As great as that Invincible team was and the individuals they had, this team will surpass them because they will have done something that not even that great team did."

Credit Due

Wright emphasized that Arteta's side deserves immense credit for their journey. "They will need to get a lot of credit for what they've been through and the journey under this manager. They're obviously playing a really good PSG side, and it will be a battle of styles, but they have got themselves there and they deserve to be there."

He added: "They've built this squad and got the players on the bench to help finish games. They've done it all up until this point. If they can finish it off, which I'm praying they can, of course they have to go down as Arsenal's best team in history."

Arsenal's remaining league fixtures are against Everton and Southampton, while Manchester City face Brighton and Aston Villa in their final two games, plus a rescheduled match against Tottenham.
