West Ham's Summerville Set for Liverpool & Man Utd Comeback
West Ham's Summerville Set for Injury Comeback

West Ham United have been handed a significant fitness boost ahead of their demanding Premier League schedule, with winger Crysencio Summerville expected to make his return from injury.

Hammer Blow Eased for Key Fixtures

The news comes as a major relief for manager Nuno Espirito Santo, whose squad is preparing for a challenging eight-day period. West Ham welcome Liverpool to the London Stadium on Saturday, before making the trip to face Manchester United at Old Trafford the following Thursday.

Summerville, a 24-year-old signed from Leeds United in the summer of 2024, had been a consistent starter under Nuno until he was forced to miss the matchday squad for the recent 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth. His absence was felt, with the team surrendering a two-goal lead at the Vitality Stadium despite an impressive brace from Callum Wilson.

Nuno's 'Difference-Maker' Poised for Return

According to reports from The Standard, the Dutch speedster is now scheduled to rejoin first-team training this week. His potential availability is a timely development, especially given the team's ongoing attacking concerns and the injury problems plaguing wantaway striker Niclas Fullkrug.

Nuno has previously heaped praise on Summerville, highlighting the unique qualities he brings to the side. Speaking last month, the West Ham boss said, "With the position that he occupies, he has to make a difference by his speed, by his talent. I was really pleased with Summerville. And I believe that he can give us big, big help."

While Summerville has not registered an assist since his two against Nottingham Forest in August, his direct running and pace are considered vital assets for the Hammers' attacking play.

Timely Boost After Forced Changes

Summerville's minor injury problem had forced Nuno to turn to younger options. 19-year-old Luis Guilherme was handed just his second Premier League start against Bournemouth, but his performance was criticised in some quarters for a lack of strength and positivity.

The return of a more experienced and proven attacker like Summerville therefore provides a much-needed alternative. The club will be cautiously managing his fitness, however, as the player has endured a rough time with injuries since his arrival in East London.

West Ham will be hoping their key man can hit the ground running as they look to extend their current three-match unbeaten run against two of English football's most formidable opponents.
