Trump and Infantino booed at World Cup final

Boos descended from the stands as Donald Trump and Fifa president Gianni Infantino took to the field for the World Cup trophy ceremony at New York New Jersey stadium on Sunday. Spain beat defending champions Argentina 1-0 to win the title.

Trump attempts to join Spain celebrations

After the US president presented Spain with the trophy, he attempted to stand with the team at the side of the podium as they celebrated, before Infantino quietly ushered him away. It was a repeat of last summer's Club World Cup at the same stadium after Trump presented the trophy to champions Chelsea and tried to crash the celebrations, to the bemusement of the players.

Match summary

Spain secured victory with a goal from Ferran Torres, breaking 10-man Argentina's resistance. The win marks Spain's first World Cup title since 2010.
