Strictly Come Dancing fans have expressed their anger following reports that comedian Josh Widdicombe is set to become the third and final host of the popular BBC show. According to insiders, Emma Willis and fan-favourite Johannes Radebe have already been tapped to replace long-time hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, with Widdicombe now completing the new presenting trio.
Josh Widdicombe's Audition and Chemistry Tests
The Last Leg star reportedly impressed BBC executives with a 'razor-sharp' audition and strong on-screen chemistry with Emma Willis. A source told The Sun: 'He entered the running a little later than the others, but he nailed the chemistry tests. Josh is so good at live TV thanks to co-hosting The Last Leg on Channel 4, and he's also quick-witted, kooky, awkward, and funny. He can bring the comedy they need like Claudia Winkleman did in the Claudatorium, while Emma is seen as the sensible one, like Tess Daly.'
Johannes Radebe's Role
Johannes Radebe is expected to take on a 'roving reporter' role, acting as a bridge between the two hosts and providing a fresh perspective for viewers in this new era of the flagship show.
Fan Reactions
However, fans have taken to social media to voice their displeasure. SuperTV247 wrote on X: 'Emma is great for this but giving her Josh to work with is… not it. Would be a real shame,' comparing the pairing to Caroline Flack and Olly Murs' brief and unsuccessful stint as hosts on The X Factor in 2015. Another user, Amie, simply said: 'Immediately no.' Rhy shared: 'Not Josh!! Defo not the right fit!'
The BBC has previously stated that plans for Strictly Come Dancing will be revealed in due course, leaving fans to speculate and await official confirmation.
