Tottenham Hotspur have been presented with the opportunity to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as they intensify their search for attacking reinforcements, according to reports. The north London club, managed by Roberto De Zerbi, are looking to build on a busy summer transfer window that has already seen them break their transfer record twice.
Spurs' summer spending spree
De Zerbi's side have been exceptionally active in the transfer market, aiming to avoid a repeat of last season's disappointing campaign. Tottenham have already secured the signatures of midfielders Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali from West Ham United and Newcastle United respectively, in deals totalling a combined £185 million. The club also bolstered their defensive options with the £52 million acquisition of Brighton & Hove Albion defender Jan Paul van Hecke, while Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, and Martin Dubravka were brought in on free transfers to add depth to the backline.
Despite these significant additions, De Zerbi has indicated that the club is still targeting 'two or three' further signings to ensure they are fully prepared for the upcoming season. The focus now appears to be on strengthening the attacking department, particularly after the Italian coach hinted that Richarlison's future at the club is uncertain.
Jackson offered to Spurs
According to The Sun, Tottenham have been approached by intermediaries offering them the chance to sign Nicolas Jackson. The Chelsea striker faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge following a largely unsuccessful loan spell at Bayern Munich last season. Jackson, who scored 24 league goals in his first two seasons with the Blues, now faces stiff competition for minutes, especially with the arrivals of Emmanuel Emegha and Danny Welbeck this summer.
Chelsea have reportedly set a £65 million asking price for the Senegalese international, though any potential move to Tottenham is still said to be at an 'early exploratory stage'. Aston Villa are also believed to be interested in Jackson, with manager Unai Emery keen to reunite with the striker after their successful spell together at Villarreal.
Balogun also offered
In addition to Jackson, the report suggests that former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun has also been offered to Tottenham via his representatives. Balogun, who came through the Arsenal academy and made two Premier League appearances for the Gunners, left for Monaco in a £34 million move in 2023. The United States international, who scored three goals at this summer's World Cup, has netted 31 times in 91 appearances for the French club.
Tottenham have also been heavily linked with Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, with reports suggesting they have already approached the Dutchman's representatives about a potential deal. As the transfer window progresses, Spurs fans will be eager to see which attacking reinforcements De Zerbi can secure to lead the line for the new season.
