The World Cup continues to wreak havoc on soap schedules, with Coronation Street and Emmerdale pulled from tonight's line-up and EastEnders shifted to BBC2. The football tournament, which kicked off on June 11, will air on ITV until July 19, causing significant disruption to the newly adopted 'soap power hour' format.
Coronation Street schedule changes
Despite being previously advertised, Coronation Street will not air on Monday, June 29. Metro has reached out to ITV to confirm this week's transmission schedule. The revised schedule includes a Tuesday hour-long episode at 8:45pm, a Wednesday episode at 7:45pm, and no episodes on Thursday and Friday. This week's episodes are set to see Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) face trial for grooming and sexually abusing Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale).
Emmerdale schedule changes
Emmerdale also disappears from Monday's schedule. The week's episodes air Tuesday at 7:45pm (hour-long), Wednesday at 7:15pm, with no episodes Thursday and Friday. The storyline follows Kev Townsend's (Chris Coghill) return, revealing he is the father of Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches), causing tension with Lewis's brother Ross (Michael Parr) and Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler).
EastEnders schedule changes
EastEnders airs a double episode on Monday, June 29, from 7:30pm to 8:30pm on BBC2, with no episode on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday episodes air at 7:30pm on BBC2, and Friday has no episode. Episodes are available on BBC iPlayer from 7am on air days. This week sees the climax of Bea Pollard's (Ronni Ancona) storyline, as her manipulation of the Mitchell family is exposed, leading to a showdown with Billy and Honey (Perry Fenwick and Emma Barton).
