Patrik Schick scored a brilliant hat-trick as Bayer Leverkusen thrashed Hoffenheim 5-0 on Tuesday, moving up to fourth place in the Bundesliga and piling more misery on the struggling hosts.
Schick Shines in Dominant Display
The Czech striker opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a clinical finish from inside the box, and doubled the lead just before half-time with a powerful header. He completed his hat-trick in the 67th minute, calmly slotting home after a defensive error. Florian Wirtz and Moussa Diaby also found the net for the visitors, who controlled the game from start to finish.
Hoffenheim's Woes Continue
Hoffenheim, who have now lost four of their last five matches, remain dangerously close to the relegation zone. Their defensive frailties were exposed repeatedly, and they managed just two shots on target all evening. Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo faces increasing pressure as his side slide down the table.
The win lifts Leverkusen to fourth place with 52 points, level with RB Leipzig but ahead on goal difference. They are now just six points behind third-placed Bayern Munich, who have a game in hand. With five matches remaining, Leverkusen are firmly in contention for a Champions League spot.
Schick's hat-trick was his second of the season, taking his tally to 18 Bundesliga goals, making him the league's second-highest scorer behind Robert Lewandowski. His form has been crucial for Leverkusen, who have now won three consecutive matches.
