Rodri has criticised Cape Verde's tactical approach after Spain were held to a goalless draw in their World Cup opener, claiming the opposition 'sat back' and showed no interest in 'getting past the midfield'.
The Spain and Manchester City midfielder told La 1 after the match: 'It wasn't meant to be. There's little to complain about. We knew it was a game that required patience, they sat back. We created chances, but couldn't finish. The positive thing is that they barely created anything against us. We need to improve our finishing.'
On Cape Verde's tactics, Rodri added: 'That's how they play. They don't get past midfield. It's a matter of improving our finishing.'
Spain will look to bounce back in their next group stage match as they aim to progress in the tournament.
