Real Madrid 'Weigh Up' £40m Pedro Porro Move as Tottenham Tensions Rise
Real Madrid eye Spurs' Porro after fan criticism

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a January move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro, offering the Spaniard a potential exit route amid a strained period in North London.

Porro's Rocky Road at Tottenham

The 26-year-old full-back has been a mainstay for Spurs this season, featuring in every Premier League match under manager Thomas Frank. However, his relationship with sections of the Tottenham support has become fraught following the sacking of former boss Ange Postecoglou.

Porro was the first Spurs player to post a public tribute to the Australian, thanking him for personal mentoring and for delivering 'one of the greatest moments in the club's history'. Since then, form has dipped under Frank, leading to fan frustration.

This culminated in Porro hitting back at critics after a 2-1 defeat to Fulham. Taking to Instagram, he wrote: "Football is emotions. In football, as in life, there can always be mistakes, what I will not tolerate is hearing disrespect from the fans to my teammates, hence my frustration at the end of the game."

Real Madrid's Interest and Martin O'Neill's Blunt Verdict

According to reports cited by TeamTALK from Madrid Universal, Real Madrid are now 'weighing up' a swoop for the defender. It is believed the Spanish giants see Porro as potential competition for Trent Alexander-Arnold, with Dani Carvajal also sidelined after knee surgery.

Porro's comments did not sit well with former Premier League manager Martin O'Neill. Speaking to talkSPORT, O'Neill delivered a scathing assessment: "That's a total ingratiation to the fans... I hope he's including himself in that group of players who didn't play so well... players, they'll do your brain in! Get a grip of yourself."

Tottenham paid £40 million to sign Porro from Sporting CP in 2023 after an initial loan. He has since made 134 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals and providing 24 assists.

What a Transfer Would Mean for Spurs and Madrid

Losing Porro this month would leave a significant hole in Thomas Frank's starting lineup. The defender remains a key creative outlet from the back, and finding a ready-made replacement in January would be a major challenge for the Spurs hierarchy.

For Real Madrid, a move would represent a strategic piece of business, adding proven quality and depth to their right flank. A return to Spain could also appeal to Porro personally as he looks to reignite his career away from recent criticism.

With the transfer window open, this story is one to watch closely as it develops over the coming weeks.
