Parker's Burnley Future in Doubt After Relegation

Scott Parker's future as Burnley manager hangs in the balance following the club's relegation from the Premier League. The 45-year-old is set to hold talks with Burnley's chair, Alan Pace, to determine whether he will remain in charge for the upcoming Championship season.

No decision has been made, and it is understood that Parker is uncertain about continuing. He may seek an amicable parting, given that he still has one year remaining on his contract.

Parker took over from Vincent Kompany in July 2024 after Burnley's previous relegation. He led the club to an immediate promotion back to the Premier League in his first season. However, Burnley struggled this campaign, and Wednesday's 1-0 home defeat to Manchester City confirmed their immediate return to the second tier.

Parker's Noncommittal Stance

Last week, Parker was noncommittal about his future. "This season has been a huge challenge for us," he said. "Discussions about what we need to do as a football club will take place in due course."

Potential Replacements

If Parker leaves, Steven Gerrard may be of interest to Pace. The former Rangers and Aston Villa manager left Al-Ettifaq by mutual consent in January 2025. Craig Bellamy, Kompany's assistant at Burnley, is also admired by Pace but may not want to leave his position as the Wales head coach.
