Linda Noskova beats Karolina Muchova to win Wimbledon 2026 women's singles title
Noskova defeats Muchova for first Wimbledon title

Linda Noskova overcame a dramatic collapse and squandered five match points before recovering to defeat Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 and win her first grand slam title at Wimbledon. The ninth seed became the third Czech champion in four years after Marketa Vondrousova (2023) and Barbora Krejcikova (2024).

Match point drama

Noskova led 6-2, 5-2 and held five match points, but Muchova fought back to force a deciding set. During the collapse, Noskova plugged her ears with her fingers to block out the Centre Court crowd's roars. She eventually converted her sixth championship point with a 115mph unreturned serve down the T.

“It took immense resilience to block out those doubts and find my game again,” Noskova said after the match. “I just tried to focus on each point.”

Czech tennis dominance

The all-Czech final was the first in grand slam history. In attendance were nine-time Wimbledon champion Martina Navratilova and two-time champion Petra Kvitova, witnessing their successors battle. Noskova, 21, had prepared for Wimbledon by winning the WTA 500 event in Berlin and had saved a match point in her third-round win over Sorana Cirstea.

Muchova's fightback

Muchova, the 10th seed, had saved match points against Coco Gauff in the previous round. She extended her run of games to five to force the final set, but Noskova regained her serving form and dominated from the baseline to seal victory.
