Gary Neville believes there are two areas Arsenal will need to address in the summer transfer window after their Premier League title triumph. Mikel Arteta guided Arsenal to their first league title in 22 years, ending three consecutive second-place finishes. The Gunners secured the crown on Tuesday when Manchester City lost at Bournemouth, then celebrated with a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on the final day.
Neville's Transfer Advice
Neville, an eight-time Premier League winner with Manchester United, congratulated Arsenal and called Arteta's achievement 'massive.' He suggested the club should sign a new centre-forward to compete with Viktor Gyokeres and an additional midfielder to support Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi. 'There's probably a couple of positions that Arsenal will still want to think about,' Neville said on The Gary Neville Podcast.
'Do they need another centre forward as back-up to Viktor Gyokeres? Do they need another central midfielder in case Declan Rice or Martin Zubimendi aren't quite there?' he added.
Arsenal's Strong Squad
Despite the need for reinforcements, Neville acknowledged Arsenal's depth. 'They've got a lot of strength in that squad,' he said, but stressed the importance of planning for a title defence. Arsenal are favourites to retain the league, and club legend Ian Wright sees a window of opportunity. 'The average age is 24 to 28 and players will want to come to Arsenal now,' Wright told Sky Sports.
Jamie Redknapp also expressed optimism: 'The dangerous thing for everyone else is Arsenal could be strong for the next few years. London is a great proposition for players. Arsenal are the Premier League winners.'
Arsenal can complete a historic double next weekend when they face PSG in the Champions League final.
